Actress/singer Zendaya is definitely serving up #BlackGirlMagic as she becomes the latest cover girl for the newest issue of Essence Magazine. The LA beauty is giving plenty of face with a fierce fashion sense. The concept of the newest issue is global issue which covers everything from race to the 2016 Summer Olympics that is taking place in Rio De Jenerio, Brazil.
In the issue, Zendaya talks about being a role model to young girls and also not being afraid to have an opinion.
Here are some of the excerpt from the new issue:
Her take on being a role model:
“You’ve got to realize those Twitter followers, those kids who watch you, that’s technically power. So, to me, I have a responsibility or a duty to the people who watch me to promote positive things, or to show them positive things, or to enlighten them…”
Her take on being outspoken:
“When I talk to people about [standing up for myself], it’s not new,” she said. “It’s not something I just started doing. I Just did it in public, and more people saw it than usual. I don’t remember when I didn’t do it, to be completely honest. I think that’s just the way I was raised, or the way my parents just taught me to be…”
