Hip Hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested on Monday, June 22nd, for assault with a deadly weapon after a fight broke on UCLA campus involving a kettlebell weight. The fight took place at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex around 12:30 p.m.
It’s been said that Diddy, 45, had an altercation with the conditioning football coach at UCLA where his son Justin Combs serve as a redshirt junior defensive back on the football team. According to TMZ, the drama began yesterday during a workout session and apparently Coach Sal Alosi was riding Justin too much for Diddy. Sources say Diddy had an issue with the way Coach Alosi was handling Justin on the field and confronted him.
UCLA sources tell us Diddy confronted Strength and Conditioning Coach Sal Alosi while Alosi was on the phone. We’re told Diddy was told to “hang on” but he wasn’t having it and picked up a kettlebell and swung it, narrowly missing Alosi. One source said if Diddy had connected, it could have killed Alosi.
Sources also shared that Diddy was acting in self defense, stating that after Diddy was instructed to leave Alosi’s office and threated to have the police called on him, he decided that he would call the police instead – causing Alosi to snap, charging at Diddy with his hands. Diddy then grabbed the kettle bell and held in up in a defense position.
UCLA Football coach Jin Mora issued the following statement: “I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”
It’s been reported that Diddy is being transported to the LA County Sheriff’s Office for processing, officials say.
