Back in 2013 the iconic pop-star image was being sold on a sleeveless t-shirt provided by Topshop. Rihanna and her team argued that the paparazzi photograph was not of her consent and consumers could easily think she approved of this shirt. Topshop then appealed the decision, claiming that taking a celebrities image and selling it on a shirt is very common to retailers worldwide.
Today, three judges unanimously decided that selling these shirts without Rihanna’s authorization was unlawful. Topshop’s appeal was dismissed. Congrats on the win BadgalRiRi!
