Ballet dancer Misty Copeland takes the lead for the new issue of Essence Magazine. Misty looks stunning as she poses in a Zimmerman gown. In the magazine, Copeland talks about what it means to overcome obstacles and how she teaches young girls to do the same.
Here is what she told the magazine:
“I never knew it was going to get to this level. There are a lot of times when I wish it wasn’t so much. But I wanted this type of exposure for the danice community. I wanted it to be an opportunity for me to educate people and get them to become ballet dancer and to educate them on what it means to be a Black dancer—a Black ballet dancer”.
Back in June, Copeland makes history as the first African American principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater. The issue is set to hit newsstands this Friday.
