Looks like Kerry Washington is playing the role of a lifetime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Washington signed on to play Anita Hill and executive produce a movie for HBO called Confirmation. The film is based on the 1991 Supreme Court nomination of Clarence Thomas.
If you grew up in the 90’s, you might remember the high profile case where Hill testified that Thomas sexually assaulted her when he was her supervisor at the Department of Education & the EECO at the time. Hill changed how the country viewed sexual harassment, victim’s rights, and race relations.
The script is written by Susannah Grant (who also wrote the hit film, Erin Brockovich) and she is also executive producer of the film. Director Rick Famuyiwa (who directed the hit film, The Wood) is in talks of directing the film but the deal hasn’t been sealed yet. Today, Anita Hill is a professor of social policy, law, and women’s studies at Brandeis University
