Kat Graham gets an opportunity of a lifetime by portraying late singer Tammi Terrell in a movie. If not familiar with Terrell, here are some facts you should know about the late singer: she always collaborated with labelmate the late Marvin Gaye and she started her singing career as James Brown background singer.
According to Deadline, the movie is going to be based on her life from her childhood in Philadelphia to being signed to Motown and up until her death.
Here is what she said about playing the legendary role:
“I immediately connected to Tammi and her story in many ways and have felt the incredible need to tell it, Tammi Terrell defined passion and soul itself. … Getting lost in the music enabled her to override life’s punishments — for when she sang, she could use the hurt to create greatness and give the world hope that maybe they could overcome their pain as well.”
Currently, the Vampire Diaries star is working on her debut album, which will be executive produced by Babyface. The movie is set to shoot for next year.
